Summer has taken ahold and I'm trying to document it in the moment. I'm taking Kara Haupt's fun Summer of Love class and it really got me in gear to start my summer art journal. This book is for....

sunny lemonade...

We've been celebrating sunny summer days with ice cold homemade lemonade.

ingredients....

1 cup sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)

1 cup water (for the simple syrup)

1 cup lemon juice

3 to 4 cups cold water (to dilute)

method....

1) Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.

2) While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for one cup of juice.

3) Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it. Serve with ice, sliced lemons. Yummy!

Serves 6.

I think lemonade is summery enough to warrant it's own party.

We're definitely getting into summer mode here with a trip to the berry patch today. This was the first time the kids had been strawberry picking. Have you had any summer "firsts" yet?

School is out! It is officially summer here.

Can't think of a better time for Kara to offer up a class that sounds amazing. I've been wanting to get started on another summer album, I had so much fun doing mine last year.

I love summer. I do adore fall and moments of winter and spring is always a season to be celebrated when it finally arrives. I like spring because it brings summer. And I always, always need summer.

I need those summer nights of thinking and renewing. I need the heat to boil away the grime of the winter and of my mind. I need random adventures with my friends and family.

Most of all, I need to digest all of it. With summer always comes a certain level of laziness. Though I tend to have more time to devote to making things and recording my summer, I rarely take advantage of it. That is why I am so pleased to bring my you my next class, Summer of Love. Follow along on an adventurous two weeks of art journaling and photography. I’m especially excited to show you the magic of the night through your camera lens. We’ll be learning night photography techniques and great photo prompts to record your summer through the day. I'm big on keeping seasonal scrapbooks. This is last years summer book that I began at the very beginnging of the season (in Rachel Denbow's class) stating my intentions for what I wanted my summer to be.

I received an email the other day saying that Dylans Candy Bar in NYC is hosting candy camp this summer. What a fun idea!!
I was thinking that may be a fun thing to do on this blog, candy camp for adults! We could have games, activities, crafts and of course, candy!
